The Pagani Huayra R, shot for Road & Track for their "Handmade" issue.
My idea behind this shoot was to try and elevate all the iconic pagani handmade parts by photographing them as artworks just as they would be displayed if they were in an art gallery. I wanted the carbon fiber to come out of the black and be revealed only by direct light reflection.
I wanted the human side of Pagani to be part of the story, so I decided to have an artisan to come on set and interact with the car parts.
I had two version of the car portrait, the full visible version and the "come out of the black" version, we decided to go for the brighter and more visible one, even though I liked the dramatic version better.
Finally Horacio's portrait, the concept behind it came from the title of the article: "The man who signs every car".
At the beginning we wanted him to sign a pieCe of paper then have that signature combined in photoshop beside his portrait, but I knew I could make it special.
I had the idea to make him sign his own portrait using a light pen and shooting using a mix of lighting techniques while taking a long exposure having the camera on a tripod.
The best part of this creativity would be the reversed signature, an idea that I knew Horacio Pagani would like, since he is a big fan of Leonardo Da Vinci work. In fact Da Vinci used to mirror write most of his writings.
